there will be an opportunity to do quiz corrections in class tomorrow
we will be starting our new unit (biology) with a review of cells. It is recommended that you take your notes/books home with you over the break.

Ionic and covalent compounds quiz on March 11 - know how to write names and formulas and how to show bonding (using Lewis structures and transfer/sharing of electrons)
Lab (test tube mystery) due Wednesday March 11 Quiz - naming and formulas (ionic and covalent) - next Wednesday (March 11)
Finish writing formulas for "test tube mystery" and do as much of the analysis as possible. There will be a chance to ask questions on Monday. Lab is due on Wednesday. Today we worked on writing formulas/naming compounds that include polyatomic ions. Do as many of the practice questions as you need to feel comfortable/confident with the material. Answers will be posted in class on Thursday. There will be a chance to make up quizzes on Thursday for those of you who have missed one or more.
No homework today. We will continue with naming/formulas next week.
Complete the ionic bonding sheet for Wednesday. There will be a check in (writing formulas/names) tomorrow, short chemistry quiz Friday, and a chemistry test (atomic structure, periodic table, electron arrangement) next Friday (Feb. 21)
Finish the package we started in class on Thursday. Determine the charge of ions (after electrons are lost or gained). If you were away find the worksheet here
Finish electronic structure periodic table - draw electron structures for the first 20 elements and answer the first two questions on the worksheet.
Finish atomic structure worksheet (finding number of protons, neutrons, electrons) for Wednesday. If you did not hand in build an atom today, finish for Wednesday.
Finish the "make an atom" activity - hand in January 27 - find activity simulation website on the chemistry section of my website
